Researching your village's First World War dead.
You can easily find out who from your ancestral village ('pind' in Punjabi) died in the two World Wars.
A complete record of every man that died in the wars is held in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's database here.
Scroll down to the 'Additional Information' field and enter the name of your village (pind).
Try using variant spellings because these records were originally created in the 1920s by British clerks who spelled very differently to today. Also, try out older names for your village.
Please do share your findings on this page. We really want to find out your First World War past. And if you know more about the people who are mentioned then please do share that.
