This extraordinary picture shows a group of Germans mocking the Indian Cavalry.

Atop a scrawny mule, a German solider with blackened face, a rough attempt of turban and rolled up trouser legs mimics a turbaned cavalryman, much to the delight of his friends.

The richest source of German-Sikh interaction during the war are records associated with Sikh prisoners of war, which you can see and even hear at the 'Empire, Faith & War' exhibition.
