First World War: 'Stories of the Empire - The Sikh fighter pilot & the Red Baron!'

Come and discover the remarkable but unknown story of the first Sikh fighter pilot Hardit Singh Malik this Friday evening at the V&A in London.

Featuring a screening of a special excerpt of 'Flying Sikhs – A History of Sikh Fighter Pilots' by Nav Kandola and a talk by author Christy Campbell on the life of the first Indian pilot of the Royal Flying Corp (which became the Royal Air Force).

To be followed by a panel discussion entitled 'Telling an Untold Story' with representatives from a host of creative projects seeking to highlight the South Asian contribution to the Great War, including HMDT Music, National Army Museum, Nutkhut and Tara Arts.

Am event organised by UKPHA as part of a special evening of talks and films exploring the role of Black and Asian soldiers from the Empire during the First World War. Evening organised by the Heritage Lottery Fund in conjunction with the V&A.
