Exactly 98 years ago, on 1 August 1916, the young Thakur Singh of the 51st Sikhs (Frontier Force) was killed in Mesopotamia.
His great-grandson, Jagdip Kang, came to the exhibition recently and was able to show us the medals that were awarded to Thakur Singh and some of the phenomenal research that he has done on his ancestor, the war record of the 51st Sikhs and the background to the campaign in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq).
Join Jagdip in becoming a Citizen Historian and find your First World War history. You can start your journey of discovery here.
With the help of our volunteers we will endeavour to help Jagdip find a photograph of his great-grandfather.
Together, 'We will remember them!'
